What is an Extension Shim?
An Extension Shim is a simple yet effective component designed to enhance the base of brick extensions. It elevates and stabilizes the structure, allowing it to extend farther outward. This is especially important for ensuring that your brickwork remains level and secure. With the right shim, you can avoid sagging and shifting in your brick extensions, which can lead to larger structural issues down the line. So, solving these common problems is easier with an Extension Shim in place.
Benefits of Using Extension Shims
One major benefit of using Extension Shims is their ability to provide flexibility during installation. They can be adjusted to accommodate various heights and ensure that your brick extensions align perfectly. Additionally, Extension Shims help distribute weight evenly, reducing stress on the bricks and the underlying structure. Because of their durable material, they are resistant to the elements, ensuring a long-lasting solution for your brick projects.
How to Install an Extension Shim
Installing an Extension Shim is a straightforward process that can enhance your DIY skills. First, place the shim at the base of the brick extension where you need support. Then, adjust it to the desired height and secure it in place. It’s crucial to check the alignment and stability before laying any bricks on top. By ensuring proper installation, you not only enhance the appearance of your brickwork but also its structural integrity, making it safer and more durable over time.
